From The Charlotte Observer. School Bus Drivers should be drug tested daily. They have to be on something to take that job. |

Tuesday..4:10 P. M. ....on Ruby/Hartsville Road..just before HWY #1...bus 508-1067 stopped properly..two children got off.....one went immediately across the road...the other went to the mail box and got the mail....driver began the stop arm and crossing gate procedure...when the second child left the mail box to cross the road in front of the bus, there was no stop arm out nor crossing gate. Serious and dangerous act. Child could have been hurt had a car, other than mine, decided to proceed as the stop arm closed. Driver needs to practice the complete unloading procedure at all times. (AS TRAINING INFRACTIONS ARE DETECTED THEY WILL BE LISTED HERE TO HELP IMPROVE OUR SAFETY PRACTICES) |
CHECKING ANOTHER BUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Thursday-October 7--4:09 PM Was behind the bus to observe an unloading procedure and the driver activated the warning lights and stop arm but before the student could get completely across the road the bus stop arm came in and the bus was pulling off from the stop before the child was across the road. A car was in front of the bus waiting to go thru the stop. We followed this driver more and watched the driver unload three (3) complete stops and at two of the three the driver did the same thing.......pulled off before the child was completely across the road. Note: This is entirely the wrong unloading procedure and is a good way to get a precious child killed. No driver is in this kind of a hurry---or at least should not be. Remember what you were trained to do and keep that child crossing the road safe. |
