Meet & Greet Our Seniors was a Success!

McBee High School was buzzing with activity in the early hours of Sept. 9 as the school held the "First Annual Business Before Hours - Meet and Greet our Seniors."
Area businesses, community leaders and industry leaders were invited to network, mingle, and have a continental breakfast with the graduating class of 2009.
This idea was headed up by the High Schools That Work Transition Team.  During a meeting to discuss ways a student could develop valuable skills such as networking, communication, and interaction with professionals in a setting that is not the norm for 17 and 18 year olds, the idea was born and may have a follow up in the Spring.
Invited guests were heard to say, "Networking that is what it is all about" and  "The students seemed well prepared and most professional - they need to develop these skills for future interviews".
"I felt this was helpful for me as a senior," said Senior Jacqueline Byrd. "I needed to hear some of the things (the community leaders) were saying."
Other seniors mentioned that the event helped them to initiate a conversation and not be so shy, and it also was helpful in learning how to communicate with people you may not already know.
A powerpoint of the seniors photos and what their plans for after graduation played while the group mingled for an hour..
