2007-08 Principal's Report

We continued to have many
successes at
McBee
High School
. Overall, the Class of 2007 received $670,500 in scholarships. Our reading
initiatives continued to make progress. The Summer Reading Program is in its
fifth year and again we again amassed
close to 16,000 points in our Accelerated Reader Program.
We participated in a Technology
Initiative that provided each 7th grade student at McBee High
with a laptop. The 7th
grade was also involved in a cooperative learning exercise called
Project-Based Learning.
We continued to explore the realm
of technology by adding thirteen Promethean Boards in various subject area
classrooms and hope to expand this effort to even more classrooms in the
coming year.
Athletics
Our football team made it to the playoffs this year and
captured the first ever playoff victory in the history of
McBee
High School
. The baseball and softball
teams are currently involved in playoff races that may come down to the
wire.
Testing
The big news in testing is
that the End of Course (EOC) test now replaces the SAT average on the high
school report card. So not only does the EOC test count 20% of a student’s
final grade, it will have a significant impact on our high school report
card. Our testing schedule is:

We encourage all students to do
their best. For the 7th and 8th grades, your PACT
scores may determine your Honors placement as well as whether you have to go
to summer school. High school students are reminded that failing an EOC
might cause loss of credit for their course and thus no promotion to the
