McBee High Music Program on Track

The McBee High School music program is on track for success under the leadership of director Matthew Crawley.
The program has made great strides since the beginning of school, according to Crawley.  Beginning Band classes have been formed with approximately 40 students acquiring instruments and beginning the steps to master them, a Concert Choir has been established, and the school has its first marching band in several years.   After-school rehearsals, master classes have been added to the daily schedule and this year the program will send students to audition for South Carolina region and all-state bands for the first time in almost a decade. A music academy will also be established soon.
The Marching Band and its 35 members made their public debut at the Cheraw Christmas Parade on Nov. 22.  In addition, the group marched in the Chesterfield and Patrick Christmas Parades.
The Electric Ensemble, McBee High's unique rock band, has also continued to develop into a respected musical group.  This group has served as the school’s pep band and is scheduled to perform at the McBee High Band and Chorus Christmas Concert on Dec. 16.
