Mission Statement

  The mission of Long Middle School, with the assistance of the community and parents, is to provide a conducive learning environment that challenges all students to reach their potential in preparing them academically to be successful and responsible citizens.

Oath

Today is a new day and a new beginning. It has been given to me as a new gift.   I can either use it or throw it away.   What I do today will affect me tomorrow.  I can't blame anyone but myself if I do not succeed.  I will use this day to the fullest by giving my best realizing it can never come back again.  This is my life, and I choose to make it a success.

1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-2001--TIP (Talent Identification Program) State Recognition

1997-98--TIP Grand Recognition

1998-99--National Geography Bee State Contestants

1998, 1999, 2000--Forty-four Junior Scholars, Best New Math Counts Team

1999--Math Counts Second Place Winner, competing at the state level

2000-2001--Math Counts Highest Scoring Female in South Carolina

1998--District Lieutenant Governor's Writing Essay Winner

1998, 1999--Concert Band rated Superior

1999--District Spelling Bee Winner

      2000-2001--Science Fair Winners: 2nd place overall in region; 1st place in state for category;                          1st, 2nd, and 3rd place state group winners for junior division

1999, 2001--Exemplary Writing School

2001-2002--1st place regional winners in track 800 meter relay, 3rd place regional winner in track 400 meter; 2nd place and 4th place Lower State winners in 800 meter
