The documentary film
production of Flat Stanley Goes Hi-Tech is the
brainchild of Mrs. Patricia Hendrickson, M.Ed., Technology
Curriculum Coach for Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Mrs.
Hendrickson's vision was to seamlessly integrate various technologies
into the project while empowering the participating classroom teachers
to develop cross curricular lessons that would educate, engage,
and excite their classroom students.
The production
involves coordinating a film production crew, the teachers and
administrators, with activities and a film shooting schedule that
includes schools and individuals in other states and countries. A
pre and post assessment (based on ISTE Standards) was also
developed to measure the improvement of teachers and students in
technology skills that are gained from project participation.
Mrs. Brenda Lyles,
M.Ed., Technology Curriculum Coach for Chesterfield County, directed the
production. The film and production crew was
chosen from among students of New Heights Middle School in Jefferson,
South Carolina. It was Mrs. Lyles' task to train these students in
all aspects of production....filming, lighting, and sound, as well as,
still photography. Post production editing and titling are done by
Mrs. Lyles.
