Chesterfield County School District receives annual funding for drug prevention initiatives through the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act.  Funding amounts vary depending upon federal allocations.  The money received by the State Department of Education is distributed to local districts based upon student enrollment and the receipt of a grant application.  Private school students may also benefit from the grant funding, if the school elects to partner with the school district.

Money received for Chesterfield County is used primarily to fund the position of a full time Drug Prevention Specialist who provides prevention curricula in our elementary schools.  Money may also be used to assist teens in attending the summer Teen Institute, and counseling for students or teachers.  The school district also partners with the local alcohol/drug commission to provide prevention services for students.
