FOOTBALL AWARDS
DINNER
The annual Rams Football Awards
Dinner was held at Robert's Rib. Following dinner and a
recap of the season, coaches and players were recognized.

RAMS WIN ACADEMIC
BOWL COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
The Chesterfield Rams academic bowl team went undefeated in
the 2008 season in route to winning the county
championship. The Rams totaled 709 points and won 23 of the
30 rounds during the 6 match season. The Rams got off to a
fast start scoring 276 points and won all 10 rounds in the
first 2 matches against Central and Cheraw. In addition to
the overall first place award, the Rams were best in Math,
Language Arts and General Knowledge. The sponsors worked
hard with the teams getting ready for each match. The
sponsors included: Susan King - Math, Sherrie Anthony -
Language Arts, Larry Taylor - Science and Chris Lloyd -
Social Studies. The team was also supported by many of the
schools teachers and administrators during the matches. The
Rams had great senior leadership to go with strong support
from the underclassman. Way to go CHAMPS!!!

 KELLEY
KING RECOGNIZED
Kelley King has been named one of Basketball's Pre-Seasons 1A top
five seniors by the SC High School Basketball Association. In
November, Kelley signed with USC Aiken to play softball next year.

BASKETBALL NEWS - LADY RAMS
#1 IN CLASS A
The girls basketball team defeated Great Falls 60-25 to improve to
6-2 overall and 2-0 in the region. The Lady Rams were voted as the
#1 team in the State in Class A by the coaches association. The Lady
Rams will play at Buford on Friday.The
boys lost to Great Falls to fall to 4-8 and 1-1 in the region. They
play at Buford on Friday. |

FOOTBALL NEWS -
Rams Go Back To Back Over Bears
The Rams defeated Carvers Bay 21-0 to win their second straight
State Title in Orangeburg on Friday. Derrick McQueen ran for 160
yards and Sergio Johnson added 2 touchdowns for Chesterfield. Again
the defense played spectacular as they only allowed 5 first downs.
It marked the first time since 2004 that the Bears had been shutout
in a game. The Rams finished 13-1 on the year.

CHEERLEADER NEWS
The cheerleaders completed their season Saturday with a 5th place
finish. The Rams were the only Class A team that qualified
and were competing in the Class AA division. |

CELEBRATES CENTENNIAL
Following the football game on Friday, Oct. 31
Chesterfield High School celebrated 100 years of excellence with
recognition of honors, accomplishments, and Alumni by Mayor John
Douglas, a fireworks display, and a birthday cake served by
Superintendent John Williams and Alumni President, Sharon Cassidy.

Cheerleaders QUALIFY FOR STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP
The squad
placed 2nd in qualifying at Lexington High School on Saturday to
advance to the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville this Saturday for the
state finals. They will be the only Class A squad in the state
competing in the AA division. |

Tickets Prices Increased at Athletic Events:
The Athletic Department, due
to rising cost of officials, mileage, equipment and maintenance, will
be raising the price for admission the athletic events. The
department will follow the guidelines listed below:
Varsity Football- $6.00
All other Varsity Sports- $5.00
All JV Sports - $4.00
Any combination games will be $5.00. (Ex. Jr High Football and JV
football played together will be $5.00).
The Athletic Department will only offer an All Sports Pass this
year. The cost will $100.00 for the first one purchased and $75.00
for each additional pass. |

DALTON HARPER AWARDED REGION 3 MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Dalton Harper received the 2008 Region Male Athlete of the year.
This annual award goes to the top multisport athlete in the region
as voted on by the Athletic Directors from each region school.
Harper, a senior who is attending Anderson University this fall to
continue his storied wrestling career, garnered the award for his
excellence in 3 sports this year. Harper was Cross Country, Region
and State Champion as well as 1/2A State wrestler of the year, and
capped it off as the Individual Region Champion at the Region Golf
Meet.Dalton
caps off a great athletic career as he participated and excelled in
3 sports each school year all 4 years. Dalton is the son of Jim and
Kristy Harper. |

SOFTBALL WINS CLASS A STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lady Rams defeated Lake View 3-2 on Friday to capture the
schools first ever state title. Playing before a packed house at
South Florence High School. |

GOLF TEAM WINS REGION CHAMPIONSHIP
The Golf team won their 2nd straight Region championship on
Wednesday at Green River Country Club. Dalton Harper shot 78, Ian
Harper shot 79 and Cody Gainey shot 80 to lead the Rams. They will
advance to the State Championship on Monday and Tuesday at Ware
Shoals High. |

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL
TEAMS ARE DISTRICT CHAMPS!
The Baseball team won the District 3 title and will play Christ
Church at home on Saturday. A tentative time is 3:00. Keyy Butler
picked up the win (6-2) for the rams. Jeremy Curtis recorded his 4th
save on the year. Paul Robson (2-2) and Josh Zearfoss (2-3, 3 RBI's)
led the Rams. They are 19-6 on the season.
The Softball team defeated Dixie 8-0 to win the District 1
championship. They have not allowed a run in the playoffs. They will
host McBee on Saturday at 2:00. |

400 WINS!!!
Coach
Weatherford collected career win 400 last night in the Rams win over
North Central. He has a career record of 400-173 in baseball.

LADY RAMS RECOGNIZED
Two lady
Rams were recognized for their accomplishments in basketball this
season. Victoria McVicker was named to All State and
Cierra Marshall was named to All Region. Congratulations to
these young ladies! |

CHORUS RECEIVES HIGHEST RATING AT SOLO &
ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL
On
Saturday, February 23 thirty-nine chorus students from CHS traveled
to Columbia to participate in the South Carolina Choral Solo and
Ensemble Festival. Of the four soloist and four ensembles that
CHS entered, seven received the highest rating of SUPERIOR and one
received the second highest rating of EXCELLENT.

RAMS WRESTLERS TAKE THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Rams won their fourth State Championship in 5 years in
convincing fashion as they cruised over an overmatched Bamberg team
by a score of 61-6; winning 13 out of 14 weight classes. The win
finishes the team's dual season with an amazing 45-2 record
including 39 consecutive team dual wins. Chesterfield owns 2 dual
wins over the AA State Champion Loris as well as a win against AAA
Runner up Hilton Head.
The Rams now turn their attention to the Lower State Individuals
Tourney, where they will be competing against 22 other Lower State
A/AA teams for the right to advance to the State tournament. |

HARPER BREAKS THE ALL TIME SOUTH CAROLINA CAREER WINS RECORD
With his win on Saturday, Dalton Harper has now broken the all time
win career record in SC with 211 wins. Congratulations to
Dalton as he continues to make history! |

COACH WEATHERFORD
NAMED ALL STAR COACH
Coach Weatherford has been named an All Star coach in the Select
Game of the All Star weekend during June 13th and 14th. The Select
Team will be comprised of the top 16 players in the state of South
Carolina regardless of classification. They will play the Select
Team from North Carolina at the Coastal Carolina field during the
weekend of the North/South All Star game. Coach Weatherford has
served as an All-Star coach in the North/South games in 1994 and
2003. He has an overall record of 388-168 in his career as a Head
Baseball coach. |

CHESTERFIELD'S WRESTLING TEAM
RANKED NO. 2 OVERALL
SCVarsity has ranked the Rams Wrestling Team #2 overall in South
Carolina all classifications combined. The only team ranked ahead of
the Rams is the #1 team in classification AAA. Chesterfield is
ranked ahead of all AAAA teams in the state! |

SPORTS REPORT RELEASES ALL-STATE TEAM
Steve Taneyhill was chosen Coach of the Year in Class A Division 1.
Simpson Miller was chosen Class A Player of the Year, and Brandon
Williams and Moon Edwards Class A All State Defensive team--Brandon
as a linebacker and Moon as a defensive lineman. |
