Hall of Frame

The CIS Arts Strategic Planning Committee is excited and proud to announce the opening of the CIS Hall of Frame art gallery.  This is one of the initial goals of our plan to utilize the arts to increase student achievement, improve the effectiveness of classroom instruction, increase student attendance rates, improve student and teacher morale, reduce discipline referrals, encourage character development, and promote an overall positive learning environment at the school.  Thus improving the quality of education your children receive.

The art gallery is the first major renovation to the facility and grounds at CIS.  In our plan to emphasize the benefits of the arts, our vision includes the following projects.

  • An arts resource room with materials, supplies, and resources (IE. Professional development books, various genres of music, skits/plays, stage prompts, costumes, art supplies, instruments, etc.) to assist teachers with instruction of the SC curriculum standards.
  • An art garden with an emphasis on identifying the various plants, natural resources, and habitats of the different regions of SC.  (These are 3rd grade social studies standards.)
  • A dance studio to provide additional physical activity and improve the fitness of our children.  (For the 2008/2009 school year, the state has mandated all elementary schools to provide 90 minutes of physical education instruction by a certified teacher to every student each week.  Dance can be used to meet one fourth of the PE requirements.)
  • A theatre and an additional art studio are also in the plans.

As evident by our future plans, the arts are an integral part of our philosophy at CIS to help students become successful and reach their potential.
