Welcome to the CIS Dance Team Web Page

The mission of the CIS Dance Team is to accomplish the following goals through student participation:

 ü                  increased interest in the arts;

ü                  increased self-esteem;

ü                  increased knowledge of etiquette;

ü                  motivation to do well in academic areas;

ü                  improved social skills;

ü                  self-discipline;

ü                  commitment to a group effort;

ü                  knowledge of the history of the dances taught and the countries where they were developed;

ü                  improved dance skills;

ü                  and the ability to perform in front of an audience.

Students who are admitted into our program must be in the 5^th grade and participate in competitive tryouts at the beginning of the school year.  The judges give numerical ratings according to the following criteria: stage presence, motivation, flexibility, skill level, memory of routines, and the ability to improvise a dance.

We believe through teaching Ballroom dancing that our students will be able to achieve our mission statement goals in addition to increasing physical stamina and health.
